Beyond the Muted Darkness

Beyond the Muted Darkness project is an initiative of Marco Groenewegen. The book aims to raise awareness of the Usher Syndrome. Marco’s first encounter with the disease was through meeting Fabio - the 4 year old child of one of Marco’s friends. People with Usher's Syndrome are born with a hearing impairment and later become completely deaf and blind. There are only 1,000 people in the Netherlands with Usher’s Syndrome. In order to finance scientific research, Marco drove a team of talented people to create this book, the benefits of which are entirely beneficial to the Usher’s Syndrome Foundation. The book was launched at De Zwijger, Amsterdam on 31st August 2017.
